IP Law Nepal — Reaching Clients Before The Infringement, Not After
The Problem
Intellectual property is the area of law businesses meet last and most expensively. A company trades under a name for three years, then finds someone else has registered it — and in a first-to-file system the register, not the history of use, decides who owns it.
So this firm has two entirely different visitors. One has a problem already and needs enforcement. The other has no idea they have a problem yet and is searching for something narrow and procedural: how to register a copyright, what a design registration costs, whether their logo is protectable. A site organised as “IP law services” is invisible to the second group, which is the larger and the cheaper to help.
What We Built
Entry points named after the registrations themselves — copyright registration, design registration and the rest — rather than after the branch of law, so the procedural searcher lands on the thing they typed.
Alongside it a publications section, which in IP does real work: the rules change, the filing procedure is unfamiliar to almost everyone, and a firm that explains it in public is the firm that gets the instruction.
The Decision That Shaped It
Registration leads and enforcement follows, not the other way round. Enforcement work is the higher fee, and the temptation is to lead with it. But a client who registers early rarely needs enforcement at all, and the site that catches them at the registration stage is the one that holds the relationship when something does go wrong years later.
What It Does
- A page per registration type, including copyright and industrial design
- Enforcement and dispute work presented for clients who arrive with a problem
- Publications section, which is how an unfamiliar procedure gets explained at scale
- Content management, so new registration types and updates need no developer
