Enter a date of birth in Bikram Sambat (BS) or English (AD) and get the exact age in years, months and days — plus total days lived and the countdown to the next birthday. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
How age is calculated from a Bikram Sambat date
Age is the elapsed time between two dates, so it does not depend on which calendar the birth date is written in. The work is in the conversion: Bikram Sambat months vary between 29 and 32 days, and the pattern does not follow a formula. A fixed offset — the common shortcut of "add 56 years and 8 months" — drifts by several days depending on the year.
This calculator converts the BS date to its Gregorian equivalent using the official month-length table for BS 2000–2090, then counts whole years, months and days to the reference date. It is the same calendar data used by the Nepali date converter, so the two tools cannot disagree.
When you need the AD date instead of the BS date
Nepali citizenship certificates, passports and academic transcripts record the date of birth in Bikram Sambat. Foreign embassies, universities and employers expect the Gregorian date. They describe the same day, so use the AD conversion shown above for anything leaving Nepal, and keep the BS date for domestic paperwork.
Checking an age cut-off on a specific date
Use the age on date field to check eligibility against a deadline rather than today — an exam application cut-off, a government scheme threshold, or a driving licence minimum age. Set the reference date and the calculator reports the age as it was, or will be, on that day.
